Myth Era Philosophy
Wearable Art Gallery · Bangalore

Our Philosophy

We take heirloom textiles (grandmother’s sarees, worked silks, generational fabrics) and reimagine them into modern, contemporary silhouettes. Every piece is a custom commission, shaped to your body and your story alone.

Myth Era is a Bangalore-based wearable art gallery that transforms heritage silks, legacy handlooms, and storied family textiles into singular contemporary garments. We begin where most stories end: with a grandmother’s Banarasi, a mother’s embroidered saree, a worked piece too precious to discard yet too dated to wear.

Every piece is a custom commission: made once, fitted to one body, never reproduced. The studio’s practice is rooted in revival, honouring the craftsmanship of the original while giving it a form that belongs to today.

Pawan Gupta

Pawan Gupta learned to see the human form as a space before she had language for it. She saw value in every piece of fabric, even the smallest swatch, and gave it new life, new purpose.

Fashion, for her, was always an act of slow exploration. Each garment was shaped to a specific person, a specific life. She understood intuitively what the modern industry has spent decades forgetting: that clothing is not a product. It is a relationship between maker and wearer, fabric and form.

“Fabric was a medium. I was building an artwork.”
Curator

Tanya Gupta

Tanya grew up in the studio, folding fabric, assisting the tailors, watching hand-stitching become art. Working with international art galleries shaped her curatorial language. She saw how the art world values effort, names its creators, and assigns provenance to every piece.

She co-founded the brand as a wearable art gallery, building the framework that treats each designer as an artist, each piece as an acquisition, and each collector-wearer as the final, indispensable element of the artwork itself.

The only gallery that breathes.

When you walk into a gallery, you do not ask the curator for the same painting in a different colour. You see it. You feel how it belongs to your wall. You acquire it because it speaks to something in you that nothing else reaches. That is the Myth Era experience.

Every piece we release is made once. Worn forever. Never reproduced. You are not one of a hundred in the same dress. You are the only. You are the collector.

Values

Our work is shaped by a quiet but steady belief: that design can be a force for good, gentle on the planet, rooted in craft, and led by curiosity.

Singularity

Every piece is made once. We do not reproduce, replicate, or run production lines. Each garment is a unique work of wearable art.

Sustainability

We work with heritage textiles (vintage sarees, hand-worked silks, generational fabrics), reviving them into contemporary garments that carry their stories forward.

Craftsmanship

Each piece is made by hand, with care and intention. We value the slow process of making and the details that give a garment its character.

Our Craft
Appliqué Work

Appliqué Work

Every swatch holds a piece of something real.

Appliqué is one of the oldest ways humans have told stories on cloth. A shape cut, placed, and fixed, a decision made by hand. At Myth Era, we treat every patch not as decoration, but as an element of composition.

Our appliqué work pieces are built from our selectively sourced fabric library, which means the fabrics layered into each piece are as considered as the silhouette itself. No filler, no repetition. Each panel, motif, or inlay is chosen for how it speaks to what's around it.

Multi-Source Layering

Pieces sourced from different fabric origins, each one with its own texture and character.

Placed with Purpose

Every appliqué is positioned as part of a design decision. Always limited.

The Name

From Myth to the Era of Myth

Originally taking root simply as ‘Myth’, the brand evolved naturally as curatorial perspective wove into craftsmanship. They recognized their work had transcended traditional fashion to become a living collection of distinctive masterpieces. This pivotal realization birthed ‘Myth Era’, shifting their purpose from creating a seasonal label to defining a definitive era of wearable art.

Committed to the Cycle

Sustainability isn’t a label we wear. It’s how we work.

Every scrap of fabric that leaves our studio is accounted for. We partner with recycling NGOs like Hasirudala to ensure that our production waste is responsibly processed, not discarded. From selectively sourced textiles to zero-waste aspirations, our commitment to circularity runs through every stitch.
